Position Title: Program Assistant
Salary: $15 per hour

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to work directly with school-aged youth, including both elementary and teen participants, in our afterschool program. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people while supporting the success of their extracurricular activities.

Job Summary:
As a Program Assistant, you will work closely with the Program Director and team to support the day-to-day activities of our youth programs. Your role will involve supervising and facilitating engaging activities in structured program spaces, while ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Youth Development & Program Engagement:
Promote active participation in our programs.
Lead and organize engaging activities and events tailored to youth interests.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and positive role modeling to participants.
Supervision & Safety:
Monitor youth in both structured and unstructured areas of the program.
Support Program Leads in activity facilitation and group supervision.
Maintain a safe and welcoming environment by ensuring clear expectations and rules are followed.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in special events and activities as needed.
Assist with supervision on off-site field trips.
Perform any other duties as assigned to support program needs.
Relationships:
Internal: Regular interaction with fellow staff members, both professional and volunteer, as well as youth and supervisors to share information, address concerns, and collaborate on program goals.
External: Represent the organization positively within the community and on social media, upholding strong personal and professional conduct.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
This role may involve physical tasks such as lifting, bending, standing, walking, sitting, and reaching.
You must be able to demonstrate or explain activities to youth participants.
The position includes working around children and adults in a dynamic, sometimes noisy environment.
You will work both indoors and outdoors, depending on the activity.
Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; higher education is a plus.
Must pass a National Criminal Background Check.
Previous experience working with youth or teens, especially in group settings, is preferred.
Ability to be adaptable in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with the public.
CPR and First Aid Certification preferred (or must be completed within six months of hire).
Position Status:
Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hours: 20-25 hours per week
