This is a remote position.
The IT Director oversees the organization's technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals. They manage IT operations, infrastructure, and security, while leading a team of professionals to implement innovative solutions. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting, vendor management, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The IT Director also drives digital transformation initiatives and supports the organization's technological growth and efficiency.
IT Director Core Responsibilities:
Technology Oversight: Oversee all technology operations, devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management, analyze the requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs, and continually improve the operational efficiency of the company through the use of technology.
As a director, you must empower and train your direct reports to manage systems and tasks without your direct action or supervision.
Team Management: Manage up to 8 direct reports (And their direct reports)
Successfully train, project manage, and ensure that their actions are consistent with MAG procedures and that they have clear instructions and tasks
Meet one-on-one with all direct reports once a week formally in a 30-minute scheduled session.
Weekly team huddles or team meetings.
Review potential hires, determine gaps in staffing, and set staffing goals to meet 120% staffing goal.
Create a skills matrix for all direct reports
Soft on people but Tough on issues: Treat staff better than Chick-fil-A serves you, but be as responsible on the P&L as a hedge fund is to drive growth.
Be Prepared: You must be more competent than the team you would presume to lead. Anticipate personality conflicts internal or external and have contingencies in place. Understand where your various resources are, prioritize initiatives, and delegate those resources out accordingly.
Communication Focus: Be an expert communicator and facilitator. Proactively delegate down and communicate up to senior leadership.
Delegate to Elevate: Be an expert delegator. It will be impossible to do everything yourself. You must delegate tasks properly to your direct reports and the MAG teams, follow up on delegations, hold staff accountable, and report back results to the rest of the leadership team.
Project Management Focus: Your Asana (task management) boards must be neat, organized, and followed up on.
KPI: Keep tasks on your board at a maximum of 50 tasks. Have a firm handle on what is going
Attention to detail: In addition to project management, you should QA deliverables with your direct reports to ensure that deliverables are error-free and ready to implement.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
At least 8-10 years of experience in IT management, with a strong background in IT infrastructure, systems, and security.
Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring IT teams.
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and project management.
In-depth knowledge of IT systems, networks, and enterprise software solutions.
Expertise in cloud computing, cybersecurity, data management, and IT governance.
Familiarity with industry-standard frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, or similar.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Certifications (preferred but not required): PMP (Project Management Professional), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or other relevant certifications.
Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
Strong understanding of business processes and how technology can enhance organizational performance.
